Apparently, sports cars’ leader companies nowadays will also be still the leaders of the future industry. In review committed by Road and Track staff about a sneak preview on future sports cars from 2009 to 2012, trying to list the top 10 sports cars which resulted in names like Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Mazda, Lotus, Ford… etc.
The high gas prices crises hasn’t gone unnoticed by the manufacturers, as by now the designers are preparing a cavalcade of hot-looking fun machines that will make their way to showrooms over the next four years.
- As for Ferrari it meant a new front-engine V-8 model to complement its front-engine V-12 models. This new model codenamed F149, sports a retractable hardtop and smaller footprint and sterling road manners. This is Ferrari’s new baby.
- The 2012 Maserati Sports Car simply is a clear hint of a more dynamic Maser, competing not only with Aston’s V8 Vantage, but also with Porsche’s 911. Although this car has been through some tough times, but after years of loss, the Italian sports-car maker finally returned to profit in 2007. This is the third model line on an ambitious plan for Maserati, where it will be a spyder style for younger customers, looks to be the likely choice.

- 2012 Jaguar F-Type, could very easily be Jaguar’s coolest sports car of the 21st century, in 2000 Jaguar unveiled an F-Type concept at the year’s Detroit show to much acclaim. Now, it seems that the F-Type might just be resurrected under Jaguar’s new owners. By chopping down the XF’s platform, making it into a narrower and shorter 2-seater, while still using the XK’s aluminum suspension components to save weight. The new F-Type will be simply a slimmer version of the XK.
- 2011 Mazda RX-7, its basis is the 16X rotary that has been on display last year at Tokyo Motor Show. The 16X is an all-new Wankel – an evolution of the Renesis 13B powerplant in the RX-8 with revised eccentric shaft designed to produce more low-end torque. While Mazda hasn’t published horsepower figures yet, we hear it’s in the neighborhood of 200-250 bhp.
- 2010 Suzuki Concept Kizashi 3, an accessible alternative to the near-luxury segment. The car is the third and last of the Kizashi concepts, the previous two seen at the 2007 Frankfurt and Tokyo shows. Besides the fact that the Kizashi 3 of the best looking of the troi, it’s also the most important because Suzuki says it will produce a sports sedan baded on this design to go on sale in North American by 2010. the car’s power comes from a 3.6 liter dohc V-6 with 300 bhp.

- 2010 Lotus codename Eagle, is a gearing up for the company’s most important product launch since the Elise bowed 13 years ago at the 1995 Frankfurt show. Lotus Eagle will feature a unique aluminum chassis with bonded one-piece carbon-fiber roof. Power for the Eagle is rumored to come from Toyota’s Camry V-6 in 3.3 and 3.5-liter forms, producing 210 and 268 bhp.
- 2010 Alfa Romeo, you can say this is when Alfa wraps its style in a tidy package. The new sporty 3-door hatchback Alfa Romeo codename Mi.To. (pronounced Me Too) since the design is a collaboration between the city of Milano (Mi) and the city of Torino (To). Officials say that Mi.To is the most compact sporty care to date. The whole package is only 159.8 inch long (about 14 inch longer than a Mini Cooper), 56.7 inch tall and 67.7 inch wide.

- 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V, according to the review, the Spec V will be to the GT-R what the Porsche GT3 RS is to the 911. It has been said that the Spec V’s 3.8 liter V-6 will pump out about 520 bhp at 6500 rpm and 435 lb.-ft. of torque from 3200 to 5200, roughly a 10% increase from the base engine. Combine this added power with the car’s lighter weight and you have a machine that’ll be so fast it’s downright scary. Zero to 60 mph will be near 3 seconds flat.
- 2009 Nissan 370Z, we knew months ago that the 350Z would undergo a significant makeover, but Mag X Japan’s leading car spy magazine, uncovered key elements in the upcoming Z’s styling along with providing vital information. The overall shape and profile of the new Z will remain relatively unchanged. However will be slightly smaller that the current car measuring roughly 163 inches from bumper to bumper, and about 6.5 inches shorter than today’s 350Z. the car will weigh some 200 lb. what this means is the new Z will be a rocket.
- 2009 Ford Focus RS, that legendary badge will return this summer on the latest generation Focus, a concept version of the 300 bhp stormer will be unveiled at the London Motor Show. Power will probably come from a twin-turbo version of the Volvo-sourced 5-cylinder currently used in the focus ST model. The RS will boast Ford’s Getrag version of a dual-clutch transmission.
