Canadian and American researchers announced that to avoid some forms of disorder resulting from congenital defects that affect the hearts of children, may require surgery for fetuses through their presence in the wombs. A study compared the brains of 41 children born with congenital heart diseases with 16 children born normally and in a good health, using magnetic resonance technique during their stay in incubators have been updated recently at the University of California, San Francisco. The study that has been published in “ The New England Journal of Medicine” found that the brains of children who suffer from congenital heart diseases were similar to those of children born before the end of normal pregnancy, pointing to damage existence in the cells of certain parts of the brain that are not seen when children remain in the wombs during full pregnancy.
Doctors added that “congenital heart diseases affect the growth of the brain even before birth,” and that there may be a need for surgical intervention to save the fetuses from such complications.
